When are avocados in season? This post and its corresponding blog post (the second search result when you google "when are avocados in season, I'll note) hit home with our audience for translating the remarkably complicated agricultural relay race that is avocado production into simple and digestible terms. I'm proud of how we distilled the dense research and chats with growers that went into making this into a clean infographic with an easily traceable narrative structure. This type of translation between worlds is something I'm really good at.
Potato and Onion Storage. Few things light me up inside quite like some delightfully effective storage content. This tip about separating your onions and potatoes continued to be one of our most enduringly popular ones and I wrote iterative captions on it for re-shares in our feed at least twice. I'm really happy with how we kept the science of this tip simple and easy to follow and also proud of how we adapted this tip to Covid times with the framework of "social distancing" your vegetables.
Is your child texting about fruits and vegetables? Keeping levity in our feed via memes and lighter pop culture references was a real breakthrough for me midway through my time at Imperfect. For this one I kept the caption super short and let my witty and ridiculous acronyms do all the talking. LMFAO indeed.
Vegetable scented candles. This was our April Fools joke in 2020, when the world sorely needed a laugh. I love creating humorous content and this one clearly resonated with our audience judging by the comments.
Fennel guide. Informative infographics are one of my favorite things to create with a designer. I love the challenge of making people feel empowered to cook with things they might not enjoy or seek out otherwise. This one for fennel helped break down an often overlooked and under appreciated vegetable in a way that our audience really enjoyed. Once we had this "root to leaf" proof of concept developed, we subsequently used it for content about other vegetables like leeks and carrots, too.
3 things that shouldn’t go in your recycling bin. This reel that I created for Ridwell got great engagement and more importantly helped clear up some common misconceptions about curbside recycling. Researching and assembling this taught me a lot about recycling and sharing it helped position Ridwell as a thought leader in the space.
Your old sweaters became Bernie mittens. Using humor to make something as complex as upcycling and clothing supply chains engaging is always a fun challenge for me. In this post I sought to delight our followers with the story of how their old sweaters had gotten a second life as the lining to the iconic Bernie mittens. Talk about warm & fuzzy news!
